Just thought I'd share...

Hi everyone...

I just wanted to share the link to a little money-saving blog I have: THE FRUGAL HOUSE.

A while ago I had started posting the occasional post about saving money or using coupons on my personal blog. While several of my friends liked it, my family members weren't interested (all they want are pictures and videos of Charlie). My younger brother even said he was boycotting my blog until the coupon posts stopped. LOL. So I moved them over to a new blog.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share it in case any of you are interested!

(And now you all know this embarrassing fact about me: I am a coupon junkie. I get 3 different newspapers delivered every Sunday - for the coupons - and I am that annoying lady in front of you at the grocery store holding up the line because of my stack of 500 coupons. But, I've been able to cut our grocery spending by more than half over the past several months while at the same time building up our year's supply...or at least our few-month's supply, since our apartment can't really hold a year's supply.)

Christmas Traditions

I thought it would be fun to share family traditions that we have at Christmas. Maybe even pick up a new tradition.

So I will share one of mine with you. We do 24 books of Christmas. I wrap them all and stick them under the tree. Each night before Isabelle goes to bed she gets to open one and we read it as a family.

Now you share some of yours!

Mary Costume

We are putting on a small Christmas program 3rd hour for young women and wondered if anyone had a Mother Mary costume from a previous program? It does not have to be anything elaborate, just a robe and head scarf.

Grown up doctor, please?

We've recently gone over many good choices for pediatricians in the area, but I am in need of a good physician for myself. I used to use Frank Fasullo, but he closed his practice to work in the ER and I have not found someone that I like to replace him. I rarely have a need to visit the Dr., but I probably need to make an appointment to have the fluids checked and the 'ol tires kicked. Anyone love their physician enough to recommend them???

BTW...Jeff uses Kathy Hansen, but she isn't taking any new patients :0(

Playdate/Service Project Thursday

If you would like to come help wrap boxes, cut snowflakes and tie bows for our ward Christmas party, come Thursday December 4th at 11:00 to the church. Bring the kids and we will make a playdate out of it. We will be in the gym. Bring toys to share--balls and small tricycles (with clean non-marking wheels) are fun too--and your own lunch. See you there.

Vinyl Party

I emailed this to most of you but I'm posting this in case I missed someone. I hope you all can make it! There is some seriously cute stuff. So fun. And if nothing else it's an excuse for you to get out of your house and have some yummy food!

Spotlight!! Shelly Smith

Our Fish spotlight is Shelly Smith

We moved into the ward last June.

We moved from College Station where both my husband and I went to school at Texas A&M.

We never really considered Houston as a possibility because I'm a country girl, and Bart was raised in Houston and didn't want to move back. However, Bart got a job here with NASA so here we are!

Bart is a resource analysist for NASA, and I am currently staying home with my daughter. I am looking around for jobs in my field of recreation and tourism, but haven't found anything worth my time yet.

Our daughter Madeline is 18 months. She is a bundle of trouble and we spend most of our time trying to keep her hurting herself. She was full of energy the moment she was born, so she keeps us very busy.

My favorite things to do are to read and to scrapbook. I also love to bake desserts and eat them. I also enjoy yoga when I get the time.

Last book I read was Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer.

The last movie I saw was "Get Smart".

I am a HUGE college football fan. I follow all the teams and all the stats. I spend every Saturday watching football, and anxiously await Sunday night when the BCS rankings come out. I look forward to every fall season. I watch more football then my husband, and am always informing him of the goings on in the world of football.

Thank you Shelly for sharing some info about you and your family so that we might know you better!!

Pediatricians

As Hillary suggested in her email, a few of us have been looking for a pediatrician with good references. I've been desperately perusing our Provider List, but am overwhelmed by the choices. Can anyone reccommend a good one? I'm just looking for a doctor who is personable, readily answers questions, and has a great rapport with the kids. Thanks!

Fun Friday Play Group

Fun Friday Play Group will meet at 11:00 at Brittany Lakes Community Park (2122 Brittany Lakes Dr). Bring a picnic lunch.

Girl's Night Out

Twilight Details:

We have 2 groups going. 1 group is going to the Webster cinema for the 7:05pm showing and meeting prior at Cheddar's (5:30pm). The second group is meeting at the Texas City cinema for the 7:00pm showing. I believe this second group is meeting at Olive Garden for dinner. (Please check with Emmaly Renshaw as to the meeting time.)

Regardless of which cinema you attend, you need to buy your tickets ASAP as showtimes are already selling out. 1-800-326-3264 (Fandango) is still selling tickets or you can go online to the Texas City Cinema and buy them there.

As soon as you have bought your ticket, please notify either Emmaly or myself so we can save seats on your behalf.

Thanks!
