Christmas Traditions

I thought it would be fun to share family traditions that we have at Christmas. Maybe even pick up a new tradition.

So I will share one of mine with you. We do 24 books of Christmas. I wrap them all and stick them under the tree. Each night before Isabelle goes to bed she gets to open one and we read it as a family.

Now you share some of yours!

What a great idea!

I think I only need about 22 more Christmas books to start this one. :)

Payne family tradition: As kids my siblings and I had an Advent calendar my mom had made. The first half of the month had decorations for the tree. The second half of the month was the nativity scene. We all took turns opening the pockets and seeing what inside. Now my boys are using the same calendar taking turns each December. It is great to share part of my childhood with my kids.

All right...My families non-embarrassing tradition is Christmas eve our family gathers around the tree and reads out of the red leather family bible that has been handed down for generations the account from Luke. And we have homemade sparkling cider and venison. We reflect on the blessing of that year and our hopes for the year to come. This is our first year spending Christmas by ourselves so we are excited to start out own.

...as for the other traditions, if you dig deep in my blog you might find them, otherwise I remain silent :)
