I Scream! You Scream! We All Want Ice Cream!

TOMORROW
31 Cent Scoop Night is back at Baskin-Robbins! America's favorite neighborhood ice cream shop is sweetening the spring season by hosting its third annual 31 Cent Scoop Night celebration on April 29, 2009, from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. at all stores nationwide. During the event, the iconic ice cream brand is thanking its loyal customers by reducing the price of all 2.5 oz. ice cream scoops to just 31 cents. In this tough economy, customers can enjoy three scoops for less than a dollar! As part of 31 Cent Scoop Night, Baskin-Robbins will make a $100,000 donation to the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program, which encourages youth education about the vital, life-saving work done by volunteer emergency services and helps to establish a pipeline of future firefighters to keep our communities safe.

Great turn out at Playgroup!

Thank you to all of the lovely ladies who showed up today. It was a great turn out.

We have two more events before we go on summer break. Then it will change to once a month till school starts again. I already have some fun events planed for the summer months. But since we are nearing the end of the school year and many of us will be bombarded with school aged kids again, I thought that I would ask what y'all wanted to do the last two weeks with the pre-schoolers. One thought was trying again for the Children's Museum since it's back up and running. It was also suggested that we go to Lupe Tortilla again.

What are your thoughts?

Thank You

Sisters,

I know this isn't as personal as I'd like it to be - I wish I had time right now to handwrite thank-you notes to the many ward (and stake) members who have done so much for us. Still, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of you (and also to many of your husbands who have visited Chris). So many of you have been helping us in so many ways during the past four weeks. The meals, visits, kind emails, help with errands, help with caring for Charlie, and - most importantly - your prayers and faith have all helped to keep us going through a very difficult time.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

YW Basket Fundraiser

In case you did not get a chance to see the sign up… The YW are holding their annual camp fundraiser at the Cinco De Mayo Celebration on May 2 at 6:30pm.

We are asking for people to donate themed "baskets" for auction. Technically they don't have to be in baskets. Some examples that have been donated in the past are:
•Scrapbook baskets
•FHE Kits
•Services (photography sessions, birth announcements, pre-made scrapbook pages, house cleaning, etc)
•Quilts
•Baby baskets
•Cakes and pies
•Summer fun baskets (included buckets, beach towels etc)
•Manly baskets (grilling, golf stuff)
•Larger baskets (In past year people have had success getting people they work for to donate Astros box tickets, teeth whitening packages, etc).

We ask:
•The cost of the basket is kept under $30 (If you want to donate something larger just let us know and we’ll put a minimum starting bid on it. Our goal is to have baskets that families can afford and that the baskets auction for more than what they are worth, but it’s also nice to have a few nice packages).

•Don’t feel like you have to buy things, some homemade things have gone over really well in the past.

•Make a small sign or let us know all the products in the basket so people don’t dig through them.

•If you are donating a service please make a poster or sign describing exactly what you putting on the auction block.

•Our goal is 20 baskets

ALL BASKETS ARE DUE – WED April 29th to someone in the YW presidency or Marie Palmer

The YW will be donating “Service Only” baskets so they are not putting money in to get money back…..look for lots of babysitting packages.

All proceeds will go to buying basic equipment for camp and helping subsidize the camp fee for the young women.

If you bid on basket, please remember you checkbook - all proceeds with be processed through the church on tithing slips. There will also be a box just for cash donations.

If you would like to donate or have any questions, please contact Emmaly at fenren03@hotmail.com or Marie at mariegpalmer@gmail.com. Please include your name, contact and a short description of what you would like to donate.

We appreciate all the support and look forward to a fun night!

Strawberry Patch

Anyone up for going to the strawberry patch? It's in Alvin. I know a lot of us have already been in the last week or so but I know my daughter had a blast just running around. Plus I really want to make some strawberry jam!! Look how delicious these look....

They also have really yummy fresh produce and bean soup mix, all kinds of fun stuff! I was thinking maybe Wednesday April 8th? I thought we could go at 11am and have a picnic lunch, but nothing is set in stone. Anyone interested?? Email me hillary_322@hotmail.com.

We could also plan a girls night to make jam and hang out without our kiddos!
