Input Needed

I have been contemplating cancelling my land line for quite some time, but for some reason I just can't bring myself to turn it off. I was wondering what others have to say on the subject. Jeff and I rarely use the land line and it is costing us $40 even scaled down to the basics.

Another thought was getting the Magic Jack and porting our number over to that. Any thoughts???

The only issue with magic jack that we've discovered through our research is that it requires your computer to be on. So if you ever turn your computer off to save power, than your phone won't work. Obviously, if you ever lose power, you have no home phone...but with your cell phones, that may not be a big deal to you.

We have used vonage for about 5 years now and have never had problems. Its $25.00/month (taxes included) unlimited to the US, Canada and most of Europe. Not as cheap as magic jack, but reliable.

The only problem we have ran into is we just downgraded our internet from Comcast cable to Verizon 1MB DSL and the call quality decreased, but still isn't bad for the price.

I have been debating the same thing. I just cant bring myself to get rid of it for those calls you would rather take from your home phone!

We don't have a land line. We never used it when we did have one. The only problem is that sometimes I need a phone to call my cell phone (when i've lost it...which is often)

Our home phone stopped working and I haven't had time to call Comcast and get it fixed. I have been using my cellphone exclusively and don't miss the land line. We are going to cancel the phone service. If you cancel it and then need it you can always add it back.
